En 2019 decidimos empezar nuestro sueño de aprender y enseñar sobre restauración de ecosistemas en una finca de 30 hectáreas ubicada en Florencia-Caquetá, uno de los seis departamentos amazónicos de Colombia, ciudad conocida como La Puerta de Oro de la Amazonía colombiana.
After intense work, where we have been accompanied by experts, volunteers, students and private companies, we have managed to restore the 13 hectares of pasture and enrich the 17 hectares of forest with tall native species. We thank you all for your support equally. However, we highlight the support, energy and motivation that Don Elí Cuellar has given us, a solitary restaurateur who for years envisioned this dream of identifying native trees, rescuing their seeds in the forests, taking them to a nursery and teaching us how to plant them in our property.

Hemos sembrado más de 13 mil árboles nativos de 60 especies en ese potrero de 13 hectáreas. Hoy es nuestro laboratorio. Los aprendizajes han sido numerosos, por ejemplo: saber qué especie se asocian mejor con otras especies, cómo ubicar la raíz en el momento de hacer el hoyo, el tiempo promedio de siembra de cada plántula para encontrar eficiencias, cómo gestionar las épocas de sequía y las de exceso de agua, entre otros aprendizajes más.
We witness the growth of the seedlings we have planted, but also how they have associated with the native seedlings that have emerged naturally. All of this makes us excited to see the progress we make in 2024.
